Fiery crash in north Phoenix closes roadway

PHOENIX — A crash in north Phoenix involving a car that caught on fire has closed the roadway, the city's police department said.

Phoenix firefighters responded to a crash near 44th Street and Deer Valley Road. When firefighters got there, they found multiple vehicles involved in the crash, including one vehicle that flipped over and was on fire. 

All of the people in the vehicles were able to get out of the vehicles, Phoenix fire said. Firefighters extinguished the fire and provided medical care to all of the patients.

Three patients were treated at the scene, including two people who were later taken to the hospital in serious condition and a third patient who was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

All of the people involved in the crash were adults, Phoenix fire said. 

The roadway is shut down in both directions, Phoenix fire said.
