Crash on I-17 southbound causes traffic slow down, could be trouble for Labor Day travelers

BLACK CANYON CITY, Ariz. — A crash along Interstate 17 southbound in Black Canyon City is causing several miles of slowed traffic in both directions, authorities said. Heavy delays are expected on I-17 north of the Valley in both directions. 

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, the right lane of I-17 southbound in New River is blocked by a crash at milepost 232. Daisy Mountain Fire and Medical said they are responding to the scene, however, they said they are responding to a crash at milepost 239, north of Black Canyon City.

The crash has caused traffic to slow for several miles in both directions, ADOT said.

ADOT did not give an estimated time of reopening.
