FD: 17 hurt after bus crashes on I-10 near 7th Street

According to the Phoenix Fire Department, the bus had 23 people on board at the time of the crash.

PHOENIX — Large parts of Interstate 10 eastbound are blocked near 7th Street in Phoenix after a bus crashed on the highway Saturday morning, according to early reports from the Department of Public Safety.

The cause of the crash is currently unknown, but no other vehicles were involved, DPS said.

Fire department authorities said that 23 people were on the bus and 17 were taken to the hospital. Most injuries were reportedly minor, but one adult was transported to the hospital in "extremely critical condition."

The HOV lane, as well as the first and second lanes are blocked at this time. There is no estimated reopening time.
