Every now and then you hear someone grumble about how bad drivers are in Arizona, but is it actually true?
The website carinsurancecomprison.com complied data collected in 2017 from the U.S. Department of Transportation and the findings are pretty clear: Arizonans don't drive well. Grand Canyon state drivers rank number two overall in the nation.
The study compared fatality rate, failure to obey, drunk driving, speeding and careless driving statistics from each state to determine the biggest loser. Arizona ranks sixth in careless driving and fifteenth in drunk driving and speeding, sending the state to the number two spot on the overall list of worst drivers.
Walking or biking is more dangerous for commuters in Arizona, according to the study. In 2015, 182 people were killed by drivers in the state.
Montana, Louisiana, Texas and Nevada round out the top five.
