Major intersection in Mesa closed after three-car collision

The crash happened at the intersection of Alma School Road and University Drive on Saturday night. Here's the latest information.

MESA, Ariz. — A major intersection in the East Valley is closed as officers investigate a crash that has sent one person to the hospital, according to the Mesa Police Department. 

MPD told 12News three cars collided at the intersection of Alma School Road and University Drive on Saturday night. 

Police said one person had been taken to the hospital, but did not say how badly that person was hurt or if anyone else was injured in the crash.  

Officers are still at the scene of the crash investigating what happened. 

The intersection of Alma School Road and University Drive is currently closed and police did not say when it would reopen. 

No other details about the crash have been released.
