PHOENIX — Drivers in northern Arizona will need to be extra attentive on the roads next year as construction begins on a new interchange project, the Arizona Department of Transportation announced Thursday.
The I-40/US 93 Kingman interchange project is on pace to start construction in 2024. According to ADOT, the interchange is expected to shorten delays that may arise for passenger and truck traffic on the main route between Las Vegas and Arizona.
Currently, traffic must stop at a signal near the Beale Street intersection with I-40. The new system-to-system interchange will have ramps to allow traffic to flow freely.
The new interchange is set to open in 2026 and is designed to handle the projected traffic growth for the next 25 years. If you would like to learn more about the new construction, visit azdot.gov/WestKingmanTI.
As one project begins, another is reaching an important milestone. A current US 93 widening project near Wickenburg recently reached 50% completion. The project will transform a 5-mile section of two-lane roadway into a four-lane divided highway. Lane restrictions will be limited to overnight hours to minimize traffic impacts during the work in 2024. For more info, go to azdot.gov/US93Wickenburg.
These projects on the US 93 are a couple of several ADOT projects expected to start, continue or complete across northern Arizona in 2024.
