PHOENIX — A crash in Phoenix sent eight people to local hospitals and six of them were children, according to officials with the Phoenix Fire Department.
Officials responded to the crash just before 8 p.m. near the intersection of Thunderbird Road and 39th Avenue. Two of the children were transported in critical condition and the remaining six people were transported in stable condition, fire officials said. The children ranged in age from 7 to 15 years old, officials said.

Traffic is shut down in both directions so officials ask that drivers try to avoid the area.
Phoenix police are investigating the crash.
