PHOENIX — Phoenix police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a teenage boy and hospitalized multiple members of his family Sunday morning.
Police said the driver of a truck involved in the crash has been arrested.
The crash reportedly happened just after 8 a.m. at the intersection of 30th Street and Greenway Road, the Phoenix Fire Department said. Two vehicles were involved.
According to early reports, a man in a truck was driving into oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle carrying five children and two adults.
All seven members of the family were taken to the hospital with various injuries following the crash.
One of the boys later died at the hospital from his injuries. He's been identified as 13-year-old Josiah Boteilho.
Police said the driver of the truck, identified as 36-year-old Bartolome Godinez-Perez, remained at the scene and was arrested. He is facing charges that include manslaughter and DUI.
Detectives have taken over the investigation into the crash.
