2 taken to hospital after car crashes into Mesa business

Mesa police said the vehicle crashed into a business located near Baseline and Power roads.

MESA, Ariz. — Two people were taken to the hospital Thursday morning after a car crashed into a business located near Baseline and Power roads, officials said. 

The Mesa Police Department said two employees were inside the business when a car plowed through one of the building's walls. Both employees were taken to the hospital, one of whom may have sustained a broken leg.

Police said the driver is being evaluated for possible impairment.

ADOT offers driving tips on its website to help keep people safe on the road.

"There’s always room for improvement when it comes to road safety," the department said on its website.

ADOT's suggestions include:

  • Don’t speed or drive aggressively
  • Never drive while under the influence of substances
  • Avoid distractions while driving
  • Wear your seatbelt and make sure all passengers are doing the same
  • When an emergency vehicle is on the side of the road, move over
  • Stay extra aware in work zones
  • Be prepared for weather conditions that make driving dangerous
