1 dead, 1 hospitalized after crash in central Phoenix

The crash happened near Cave Creek and Mountain View roads. Here's what we know.

PHOENIX — One person is dead and another was hospitalized after a crash Friday night in central Phoenix. 

The crash happened near Cave Creek and Mountain View roads around 8:30 p.m. The driver of the car was taken to a hospital where he died, officials with the Phoenix Police Department said. A woman was taken to a hospital with injuries but is expected to be OK, according to police. 

Police said preliminary information shows that the vehicle was driving north on Cave Creek Road when it allegedly lost control and left the road, hitting the pedestrian as well as multiple parked cars nearby.

No other information was provided.
