47-year-old motorcyclist dead following crash in Maricopa

Maricopa police officers responded to the crash just after 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, police said.

MARICOPA, Ariz. — A man is dead following a crash in Maricopa, police said.

Maricopa police officers responded to a crash at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, police said. The crash, near Honeycutt Road and Continental Boulevard, involved a car and a motorcycle. Officers found the motorcyclist in the roadway. He died on scene from his injuries.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office's Vehicular Crimes Unit was asked to assist in the investigation because of the nature of the crash. 

Preliminary information indicates that the passenger vehicle turned in front of the motorcycle. The sheriff's office is investigating for signs of impairment.

PCSO said the deceased motorcyclist has been identified as 47-year-old Jordan Piergrossi.
