DPS is investigating a fatal crash in south Phoenix, say man was allegedly throwing objects at cars prior to his death

The crash involved a pedestrian, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

PHOENIX — A person is dead following a crash on Interstate 17 in south Phoenix, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

DPS is investigating a crash involving a pedestrian at the Durango curve that occurred around midnight. The road was closed early Monday morning and DPS told a 12News photojournalist at the scene the pedestrian has died.

DPS told 12News the man was allegedly throwing objects at cars. The driver involved in the crash stayed at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, DPS said. 

DPS said they do not know what caused the crash. The agency did not release any other information.
