Fatal crash in Scottsdale involves pedestrian

A woman is dead after being hit by a vehicle in Scottsdale, the city's police department said.

Police said the crash occurred near Scottsdale and Thunderbird roads on Saturday night. A woman allegedly left the sidewalk and walked in the road, where she was hit by a vehicle. The woman was declared dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene and spoke with first responders. Police said impairment is not believed to be a factor for the driver, but did not say whether or not impairment was a factor for the pedestrian. 

Police did not release the identity of the woman who died.
