Did you see something shooting through the sky? Here's what it was

Viewers from around the Valley sent us pictures of something flying through the sky. Here's what they saw.

PHOENIX β€” Did you notice something flying through the skies over Arizona Monday night?

It turns out you saw the latest launch of Starlink satellites by SpaceX from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket carrying 22 Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit just before 7:45 p.m. Monday night, according to the organization's website.

SpaceX says this was the 10th flight for the Falcon 9 rocket. It was the eighth time it has launched for a Starlink mission.

What is Starlink?

Starlink is "the world's first and largest satellite constellation using a low Earth orbit to deliver broadband internet capable of supporting streaming, online gaming, video calls and more," according to the service's website.

The "constellation" of satellites consists of thousands of satellites that orbit Earth at an altitude of about 550 km, or 341 3/4 miles.

The satellites connect to antennas that users set up at their home to provide internet access.
