Brittney Griner, wife welcome 'amazing' baby boy

Brittney Griner spoke on CBS' sports show "We Need To Talk" about the arrival of her son just weeks before the All Star Game and 2024 Olympics.

PHOENIX — WNBA star, Olympian, author — Brittney Griner has a lot of roles she plays, but her newest title?

"Pops," Griner said during an interview with Terrika Foster-Brasby for CBS' show 'We Need To Talk.' "... Well, I guess I'll just drop it: he's here."

The Phoenix Mercury Center and her wife, Cherelle Griner, welcomed a baby boy on July 8, Griner shared on WNTT.

"That's my man," Griner said of her son. "He is amazing. They say as soon as you see him, it's just like, everything that you thought mattered just goes out the window, and that's literally what happens."

Griner said it "kinda sucks" that her son was born just as she heads off to the All Star game and the 2024 Olympics, but said her son "will understand."

"My whole phone is just him," Griner said with a smile.

Congratulations to the Griners!
