Report: Jeff Hornacek turns down Iowa State meeting

According to reports, it doesn't appear Jeff Hornacek is interested in leaving the Suns for Iowa State.
April 2, 2015; Oakland, CA, USA; Phoenix Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek instructs during the second quarter against the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena. The Warriors defeated the Suns 107-106.

ID=28448987Once Tom Thibodeau was fired by the Chicago Bulls, rumors began swirling that Iowa State's Fred Hoiberg would be his replacement. Those turned out to be true.

There was also some speculation that current Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek would be Hoiberg's replacement at Iowa State. Those rumors, however, don't appear to be true.

According to a report on cyclonefanatic.com, Iowa State did reach out to Hornacek's camp and offered a meeting with school president Steven Leath and athletics director Jamie Pollard, but Hornacek's camp turned them down.

This goes along with what Hornacek told reporters last week after a pre-draft workout.

"Yeah it'd be an honor and it would be fun to coach your alma mater, but Ryan (McDonough) and I came here with a purpose. That purpose is to get the Phoenix Suns back on track," said Hornacek.

The comment section of the report is where things get interesting though, as Steve Kauffman, who represents Hornacek, alluded to the fact that his client may still be interested in the Iowa State job. CBSSports.com says they've confirmed Kauffman was the actual commenter that left the posts.

According to Kauffman's post, there seemed to have been a disconnect in how Iowa State approched meeting with Hornacek, since the Suns coach is currently under contract with Phoenix writing:

"School knew they had to request permission in a certain manner from the Phoenix Suns. I do not wish to allocate the blame as to the parties at fault here. But it's a shame."

Hornacek is currently set to enter his third year with the Suns.
