PHOENIX — Summer is in the rearview mirror and Arizona's incredible fall colors are coming up fast.

With October just a few days away, people across the state are getting ready to hike out and enjoy the changing leaves, cooler temps and cozy vibes.

On Wednesday, Arizona State Parks and Trails released their list of the best places to see the leaves this season.

Check out their recommendations and suggested hiking trails below:

  1. Red Rock State Park: This park's five miles of trail wind up above Sedona to give you a stunning view of the city. Eagle’s Nest trail the hike to the House of Apache Fires may be steep, but the view is unmatched.
  2. Slide Rock State Park: This park near Oak Creek is a summertime oasis with its cool waters and shady trees, but the banks of the creek also come alive with color during the fall. Best of all, the park is far less crowded during this time of year!
  3. Dead Horse Ranch State Park: Late October is the perfect time to explore this park. The cottonwood trees studded around the landscape light up with color later in the season, providing a lot of vibrancy to the trails and meadows in the area.
  4. Tonto Natural Bridge State Park: Situated between Payson and Pine, this park is home to (and gets its name from) the world's largest travertine bridge. In addition to the fall colors all around, visitors to the park can hike through the creek that runs under the titular bridge.
  5. Rockin’ River Ranch State Park: Located near Camp Verde, Arizona's newest state park provides visitors with plenty to see and do. Its river-rich landscape comes alive with color just like Dead Horse Ranch State Park.
