Road to Rio: Olympic uniforms

Nike has spent years designing uniforms that it hopes will help bring home the gold medal for athletes.

The uniforms for this year's Summer Olympic Games are out and they're about a lot more than just looks.

Nike has released a new line of uniforms for the Olympics. They look slick, but they're also built for speed and support.

Nike's engineers in Oregon spent the last few years crafting each uniform for the specific sport in which athletes will wear it.

For example, Nike takes the track uniforms and tests them in a wind tunnel to make them more aerodynamic. The company is hoping that can shave a few hundredths of a second off a 100 meter race. It may not seem like much, but that could very well mean the difference between a gold and silver medal.

One way Nike makes clothing more aerodynamic is by creating aero blades. That's texture that's strategically placed on the uniform, like dimples in a golf ball.

The outfits for the opening ceremonies still haven't been released just yet. Expect them a little closer to the Summer Games that start on August 5th.
