RIO DE JANEIRO - Michael Phelps: Still worth the price of admission.
The most decorated Olympian ever continued to decorate himself in gold, winning his 20th career Olympic gold medal in the men’s 200 butterfly Tuesday night. It is his 24th overall Olympic medal.
He beat Japan's Masato Sakai by .04 seconds, finishing in 1:53.36.
Phelps beat a loaded field that included rival Chad le Clos, who bested Phelps four years ago in London. The American star qualified second for Tuesday’s final.
This medal is Phelps’s first individual medal of these Games, and his second overall (he won gold as part of the Americans’ 4x100 free relay on Sunday). He is still scheduled to swim the 200 individual medley and the 100 fly later this week, as well as participating in the medley relay.
Phelps has been training at ASU since his coach Bob Bowman moved there to take over coaching duties.
