PHOENIX — "The Léon Marchand global appeal is real."
Arizona State University professor Paola Boivin posted to "X," formerly known as Twitter, that she told a Parisian in a sports bar that she teaches at the university where Marchand previously swam for. The Parisian, despite living over 5,000 miles away, responded:
"Arizona State?"
The former ASU swimmer has repeatedly made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics, becoming the first French swimmer to ever win four gold medals, and he did it all within four days. He hasn't walked out of a final without a gold medal and an Olympic record, the Olympics website reports.
There's no mistaking it: Marchand is a global sensation.
