PARIS, France — More athletes with Arizona connections were in Paris on Tuesday giving it their all as they went for the gold in the 2024 Olympic Games.

Here's a look at how those with ties to Arizona performed on July 30.

Léon Marchand, Men's Swimming

On Tuesday, Léon Marchand, a former ASU swimmer, swam in the preliminary heats and semifinals for the men's 200-meter butterfly and the men's 200-meter breaststroke.

Merchand moved into the semifinals of the 200-meter butterfly with a 1:53.50 swim.

He also qualified for the semifinals of the 200-meter breaststroke with a  2:08.11 swim.

The finals for both are on Wednesday.

Marchand has already won a gold medal, also he won the men's 400-meter individual medley by nearly six seconds on Sunday.

Jade Carey, Women's Artistic Gymnastics

Jade Carey, along with the rest of Team USA, brought home the gold in the women's gymnastics team final.

Carey won’t get a chance to defend the floor exercise gold medal she won three years ago in Tokyo. Illness contributed to an uncharacteristically mistake-filled routine in qualifying. The 24-year-old is hoping for a shot at redemption in the team final. Carey will compete on vault for the U.S. as it tries to return to the top of the podium following a runner-up finish to Russia at the 2020 Games.

Regan Smith, Women's Swimming

Former Sun Devil Regan Smith earned a silver medal in the 100-meter backstroke on Tuesday with a 57.66 swim.

Smith holds the world record in the women's 100-meter backstroke with a time of 57.13 seconds, which she set at the US Olympic Team Trial in June.
