PARIS, France — The second full week of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris is set to get underway on Monday!
The first nine days of the Games have been full of exciting action and medals from Arizona athletes. Just on Sunday, swimmers Léon Marchand (bronze) and Regan Smith (gold) and archer Brady Ellison (silver) all added medals to their impressive Olympic resumes!
One more Arizona Olympian will have a shot at a medal on Monday. Here's a look at who will be competing and when (all times are Arizona time):
3x3 Basketball
- Women's Semifinals
- USA vs. Spain
- The US women, which includes former Phoenix Mercury forward Cierra Burdick lost their semifinal matchup to Spain 18-16 in overtime. Burdick did not score in the game but had five rebounds.
- USA vs. Spain
- Women's bronze-medal game
- The US women then took on Canada in the bronze-medal game, which they won 16-13. Burdick scored three points and grabbed three rebounds as the Americans rebounded from an 0-3 start to claim the bronze medal.
Beach Volleyball
- Men's Round of 16
- Chase Budinger, former University of Arizona basketball player and former Phoenix Sun
- Budinger and partner Miles Evans played Norway's Anders Berntsen Mol and Christian Sandlie Soerum at 5 a.m.
- Budinger and Evans lost their match 0-2, ending their Olympics run.

Diving
- Women's 10-meter platform
- Delaney Schnell, former University of Arizona diver, lives in Tucson
- With a score of 278.15, Schnell finished in 15th place in the preliminary round and qualified for the semifinals.
- However, Schnell was unable to improve on that position, finishing in 15th place again in the semifinals with a score of 271.95. Only the top 12 divers advanced to the final, so Schnell was eliminated. \

Track and Field
- Men's 3,000-meter steeplechase
- US runner Matthew Wilkinson trains with Under Armour Mission Run Dark Sky Distance in Flagstaff
- Wilkinson raced in Heat 2 at 10:04 a.m.
- The top five runners in each of the three heats advanced to the final on Aug. 7 at 12:43 p.m.
- Wilkinson finished the heat in sixth place, just more than a second behind India's Avinash Mukund Sable, so Wilkinson was eliminated and will not race in the final.
Other notes about the 2024 Summer Olympics
Now that the first nine days of the Olympics are behind us, some events have seen their competitions come to an end. Those are:

Some events will hold their final competitions on Monday. Those are:

A few events will be holding their first day of competition on Monday. Those are:
- Artistic Swimming
- Track Cycling
- Sport Climbing
- Wrestling
And there are still a few events that have yet to begin. Those are:
- Breaking, which begins Aug. 9
- Canoe Sprint, which begins Aug. 8
- Marathon Swimming, which begins Aug. 7
- Modern Pentathlon, which begins Aug. 8
- Rhythmic Gymnastics, which begins Aug. 8
- Taekwondo, which begins Aug. 7
- Weightlifting, which begins Aug. 7
Arizona sports
The city of Phoenix is home to four major professional sports league teams; The NFL's Arizona Cardinals, NBA's Phoenix Suns, WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury and MLB's Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Cardinals have made State Farm Stadium in Glendale their home turf and the Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix is home to both the Suns and the Mercury. The Indoor Football League’s Arizona Rattlers play at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale.
Phoenix also has a soccer team with the USL's Phoenix Rising FC, who play at Phoenix Rising FC Stadium in Phoenix.
The Valley hosts multiple major sporting events every year, including college football's Fiesta Bowl and Guaranteed Rate Bowl; the PGA Tour’s highest-attended event, the WM Phoenix Open; NASCAR events each spring and fall, including Championship Weekend in November; and Cactus League Spring Training for 15 Major League Baseball franchises.
