New arena renderings showed up on the Arizona Coyotes website before they were removed

The photos were uploaded to the team's app and website Tuesday but were later taken down.

PHOENIX — The Arizona Coyotes apparently shared photos of what may be their new home, before the team actually bought the land.

According to 12Sports journalist Cam Cox, the Coyotes shared photos of what appear to be renderings of a new arena on their app and website, before quickly taking them down Wednesday morning.

This comes less than a week after the Arizona State Land Department Board of Appeals unanimously approved the Coyotes' application for land in north Phoenix. The land is 95 acres near the Loop 101 by the Desert Ridge Marketplace.

We reached out to the Coyotes and officials said they will not have any further comment until the auction notice is made public.

Also Wednesday, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman was asked about the future of the Coyotes during the annual GM's meeting in Florida.

"Well, we would have preferred to be in a new arena by now," Bettman said. "But there are certain things that can't be controlled."

The Coyotes had hoped to build an arena in Tempe near Sky Harbor airport. That proposal was voted down, sending the Coyotes in search of another location.

The team is currently playing at ASU's Mullett Arena with an option to extend the lease through 2026.
