On Monday, Bruce Arians voiced his displeasure with the Arizona Cardinals current running back situation, telling the media the team was looking at bringing in another back to compete for a job.
Andre Ellington, the presumed starter, has missed most of camp due to a hamstring injury along with rookie back David Johnson.
The rest of the backs currently on the roster have left something to be desired.
Now, there is an ESPN report out that says Arizona has offered former New York Jet and Tennessee Titan running back Chris Johnson a one-year deal.
Dianna Marie Russini followed up her original report by saying Johnson might not accept Arizona's offer because he wants to go into a situation where he would make the roster and have an immediate impact.
If Johnson and Ellington were to get healthy, Arizona wouldn't be that situation.
The key word in that sentence is 'if'.
Johnson is far removed from his 2,000 yard season in 2009, but still has some tread left on the tires.
He rushed for 663 yards last year with the Jets and bringing him in could light some fire under the current running backs the Cardinals have.
If he can be signed at the right price, why not add another talented piece to the Cardinals' backfield.
