Jesse Luketa balancing football & music

This year, everyone is finally seeing the real Jesse Luketa, or as those in the music world call him – Lu’.

PHOENIX — Cardinals linebacker Jesse Luketa is off to a great start this season. He earned a roster spot, and they’re counting on him to rush the quarterback. This is Luketa’s third season with the Cardinals. The former 7th-round pick has made headlines.

There was that whole calling JJ Watt about his retirement and leaving a voicemail moments after getting his wisdom teeth pulled. He’s got his own day named after him on July 4 back home in Ottawa, Canada. Last year, Luketa made national news and new friends when he had car trouble on the way to the game, and a local family helped him get to the stadium.

This year, everyone is finally seeing the real Jesse Luketa, or as those in the music world call him – Lu’.

Lu’ dropped his first three mainstream singles this past year "Over", "Nerves" and his debut single "FEVA." His music blends his diverse background, spanning English and French-speaking cultures and African heritage.

Making it to the NFL was Jesse’s dream, but music has always been his passion. Going up in church, Luketa would sing in the choir and play instruments. He describes himself as an Afrobeat artist making feel-good music that’s designed to take you somewhere else.

Luketa talked 1-ON-1 to 12Sports’ Cameron Cox about his music and football life. Watch the interview above.
