Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey, a fine player in the NFL, made news with comments he made in an interview with GQ. He disparaged several quarterbacks from around the league, although he had nothing to say about any of the current Cardinals QB or any that are now on the roster.
He did, though, have something to say about cornerback Patrick Peterson.
Ramsey, whose Jaguars were a surprise success last season, going 13-3 and making it to the AFC Championship Game, but now will not be able to sneak up on anyone.
He compared continuing the team’s success to Peterson’s career.
“Getting to the top, you got somebody you shooting at,” he said in the interview. “Then when you get to the top, now people shooting at you. Like [Arizona Cardinals cornerback] Pat Pete, to be on year eight or nine and still be considered one of the best? That’s something big.”
Ramsey clearly has respect for Peterson, even though he believes he is now better than the Cardinals stud.
And what Peterson has done in his career is amazing. He hasn’t just had one great year. He has had an entire career of greatness.
That is big, as Ramsey says. Ramsey can only hope to be what Peterson has been.
