SEATTLE - The Cardinals fell to the Seahawks Sunday in Seattle, 27 to 24 to put the cap on a 3-13 season, the team’s worst year since 2000 (3-13).
The loss did, however, come with some positives.
First, Arizona locked up the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Also, the Cardinals have the worst offense in the NFL but the team did put up 20 points Sunday, a positive note for the Cards, which put up 20 points in just three other games this year. One score on Sunday was a special teams touchdown.
The game was tied at 24 with under two minutes to go when Zane Gonzalez nailed a 55-yard field goal, but the Seahawks, as they did against the Cardinals in September, marched down the field and nailed a game-winning field goal.
The Cardinals defense was strong, sacking Russell Wilson six times. David Amerson also came up with an interception and the special teams crew came up with a key blocked punt touchdown.
Josh Rosen went 18-for-34 with 149 yards and a touchdown through the air. Larry Fitzgerald had four catches for 36 yards and a touchdown.
Now that the season is over, the big question mark remaining is whether Arizona will bring back first-year head coach Steve Wilks. His 3-13 season is the worst inaugural season for an Arizona Cardinals head coach ever.
We should know the answer to that question within 48 hours.
