The Arizona Cardinals and State Farm reached an 18-year agreement to rename the team's home facility in Glendale "State Farm Stadium," the team announced in a press release.
“We were intent on finding a relationship that was an ideal fit with our organization and this community in terms of values, priorities and culture,” said Cardinals President Michael Bidwill. With State Farm, we absolutely did that.”
Arizona is home to one of State Farm's three regional hubs and the company employs approximately 7,000 people here, the Cardinals said in a release.
“State Farm is committed to making a difference and so are the Arizona Cardinals," said State Farm Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael Tipsord. "Working with them gives us the chance to build even stronger communities in Arizona and helps us build our brand nationally.”
The name change is expected to be in place by Arizona's regular season opener versus Washington on September 9.
The team's arena had previously been known as University of Phoenix Stadium, since its inaugural season in 2006. The Cardinals and University of Phoenix announced that the name would be changing in April 2017.
