PHOENIX — When the Arizona State Sun Devils and Arizona Cardinals took the field for their games this weekend, they not only had to battle the Kansas Jayhawks and San Francisco 49ers, respectively. They also had to battle the heat.

The temperature at kickoff for the Cardinals game on Sunday was 95 degrees, making it the hottest game in the history of Levi's Stadium, the 49ers home stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

The heat shouldn't bother the Cardinals much though. Not only are they dressed in their all-white uniforms, but they normally practice outdoors here in the Valley, where we have seen triple-digit temperatures almost every day since the Cardinals started training camp back in July.

The heat in Santa Clara comes just hours after Arizona State played in one of the hottest games ever at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe.

The temperature at kickoff in Tempe on Saturday was 107 degrees, which was tied for the hottest game on record with ASU's game against Sacramento State on Sept. 5, 2013. Those records date back to the year 2000.

ASU went on to win the game 35-31 to move to 4-1 on the season and 1-1 in Big 12 Conference play.
