Remembering Al McCoy: Here's how the Arizona Cardinals honored the longtime Suns broadcaster before their game on Sunday

Arizona Sports Hall of Famer Al McCoy passed away on Saturday. Here's how the Cardinals honored him at their game on Sunday.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Across the Valley, people are honoring the life of longtime Phoenix Suns broadcaster Al McCoy after he passed away on Saturday at the age of 91.

That includes the Arizona Cardinals, who honored McCoy before their game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday with a moment of silence.

McCoy was the Voice of the Suns for 51 years, calling the team's games mainly on radio since 1972. He retired after the 2022-23 season. He had been working in the Valley since 1958, calling everything from Triple-A baseball games for the Phoenix Giants to minor league hockey games for the Phoenix Roadrunners before becoming the Voice of the Suns.

Cardinals Senior Vice President of Media Relations Mark Dalton posted a picture of a graphic showing McCoy on the jumbotron at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.

Dave Pasch honors Al McCoy with 'Shazam' call

Arizona Cardinals rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. grabbed his third touchdown of the season in the first quarter against the Lions and the Voice of the Cardinals, Dave Pasch, honored Al McCoy by using McCoy's famous catchphrase for three-pointers — "Shazam!" — when he called the touchdown. You can watch the play and hear Pasch's call below.
