TUCSON, Ariz. — Trading red, white and blue for purple and gold, another member of the 2023 All-Friday Night Fever team is transferring from Arizona to Washington.
Former Apollo running back Adam Mohammed, a three-time member of the All-Fever team, announced his transfer on social media Sunday evening.
Mohammed is the second player from right here in the Valley to announce they were headed to Seattle on Sunday after former Basha quarterback Demond Williams Jr.
The 6' 0", 180-pound back is now the fourth former Wildcat to make the move to the Pacific Northwest along with Williams, running back Jonah Coleman and cornerback Jordan Shaw. Neither Mohammed, Williams or Shaw ever played for Arizona. Mohammed and Williams were early enrollees after signing with Arizona during the early singing period in December 2023, which is also when Shaw transferred to Arizona from Indiana.
This move comes just one week after former Arizona head coach Jedd Fisch was hired as the head coach at Washington.
The three-star recruit was rated as the 121st-best running back in the nation and 31st-best player in Arizona in the class of 2024, according to 247Sports.
He committed to Arizona on June 19, 2023, turning down offers from Boston College, Cal, Colorado State, Iowa State, Montana State, Northern Arizona and Utah State.
Mohammed signed with Arizona on December 20, 2023, and entered the transfer portal on January 17, 2024, three days after Fisch announced he was replacing Kalen DeBoer as the head coach at Washington.
In four seasons at Apollo, Mohammed ran for 5,180 yards on 614 carries, averaging 8.4 yards per carry, and scoring 94 touchdowns. He also caught 46 passes for 701 yards and 11 touchdowns.
During his senior season, Mohammed ran 189 times for 2,147 yards (11.4 yards per carry) and 39 touchdowns and caught 10 passes for 308 yards and four touchdowns as he led Apollo to the 5A semifinals. Mohammed was named the 2023 5A Conference Player of the Year by the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA).
