For years fans have followed his adventures throughout his career and watched him become a worldwide icon and comedian.

Thousands of fans are making their way to Phoenix this week as the 2024 NCAA Men's Final Four takes place on Saturday. Fans from Alabama, Purdue, N.C. State and UConn will cheer on their respective teams in hopes of winning a national championship.

FINAL FOUR: Who will play, when the games will be and everything else you need to know

Why is Bill Murray cheering for UConn?

During March Madness this month, Murray was seen rooting for the Huskies as they competed for the NCAA championship. But why? It's a family affair.

Murray's son, Luke, is a coach for the Huskies. His proud father wants to support his kid and attend games.

And as you can imagine, it didn't take long for the cameras to find him. The broadcast team was quick to point out the celebrity fan.

According to the university website, Luke is in his second season as an assistant coach for UConn. He joined Coach Dan Hurley’s staff in April 2021.

Where did Bill Murray go to college?

Murray attended Regis University in Denver before ultimately dropping out, according to IMDb. In 2007, Murray was surprised with an honorary degree from the university as a doctor of humanities.

It looks like for now Murray's allegiance belongs to the UConn Huskies. If history is any indication, you may even see the actor around town during the Final Four festivities.
