When is Shawn Marion's Ring of Honor ceremony? Details on the Suns induction event

Affectionately known as "The Matrix," Shawn Marion will be inducted into the Phoenix Suns' "Ring of Honor" on Dec. 15.

PHOENIX — We knew this summer that former Phoenix Suns great Shawn "The Matrix" Marion will be inducted into the "Ring of Honor" this season.

Now we know when the ceremony will be taking place.

The Suns announced Wednesday that Marion's induction ceremony will take place after the game against the New York Knicks on Friday, Dec. 15. His number 31 will also be retired by the team.

After the announcement, the Suns shared a video message from Marion to the fans on social media.

"To the fans... There's no Matrix without you," he said in the video.

Marion played 660 regular season games from 1999-2008. With 12,134 points scored, the forward ranks fifth in franchise history for points.

During that time, Marion averaged 18.4 points on 48.1% shooting, 10.0 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.4 blocks. 

He is second in rebounds (6,616), second in steals (1,245), and third in blocks (894).

Marion is the team’s all-time playoff leader with 706 postseason rebounds during his Suns career. He earned All-NBA honors two times and was a four-time All-Star selection while with the Suns.
