PHOENIX — Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant sprained his ankle during Tuesday night's matchup against the San Antonio Spurs, the team confirmed.
Durant left the game with 3:51 to play in the second quarter and did not return. He headed to the locker room under his own power, and the Suns later said he hurt an ankle without providing any specifics. He finished with 13 points.
On Wednesday, the team released a statement saying Durant sustained a left ankle sprain and he will be re-evaluated in one week.
No other information was provided.
Durant recently returned to the paint after a different injury — a strained left calf that kept him from playing for seven games in a row.
The city of Phoenix is home to four major professional sports league teams; The NFL's Arizona Cardinals, NBA's Phoenix Suns, WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury and MLB's Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Cardinals have made State Farm Stadium in Glendale their home turf and the Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix is home to both the Suns and the Mercury. The Indoor Football League’s Arizona Rattlers play at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale.
Phoenix also has a soccer team with the USL's Phoenix Rising FC, who play at Phoenix Rising FC Stadium in Phoenix.
