Phoeinx Mercury confident, riding winning streak

The Phoenix Mercury have won six-straight games and are playing their best basketball of the season.

Winning will make anybody happy, just ask the Phoenix Mercury.

"Obviously winning is always good. I sleep much sounder at night, so that's good," joked head coach Sandy Brondello.

The Mercury have won six-straight games, and it's largely thanks to the return of Brittney Griner.

"Huge inside presence for us on both ends of the floor. Teams have to guard her which means other people on the floor are going to be open. Defensively she's probably the best shot blocker in the world, in the women's game so she's helping us out a lot," said Candice Dupree.

Phoenix is 6-1 since Griner returned to the lineup and is currently third in the Western Conference, just a game and a half behind Minnesota.

The Mercury are fourth in the league in points scored and points allowed and are playing their best basketball right now.

Coach says it's all about chemistry.

"Just getting our full team together. And look, the chemistry has been better than what we thought it would be at this stage," said Brondello.

Next up for the Mercury, a Saturday matchup with the New York Liberty.
