LAS VEGAS — Former Millennium High School and AZ Compass Prep star DaRon Holmes II will likely miss his rookie season after tearing his Achilles tendon, according to a report from The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Holmes reportedly suffered the injury in the Denver Nuggets' NBA Summer League opener against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night.
Holmes was drafted by the Phoenix Suns with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, but his rights were traded to Denver.
The Suns got the No. 28 pick in return, which they used to draft Virginia forward Ryan Dunn.
Holmes was the Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Player of the Year this past season with the Dayton Flyers and averaged 20.4 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
