PHOENIX — A cancer survivor from Phoenix was recently surprised on the Jennifer Hudson Show with tickets to see the Arizona Diamondbacks play in the World Series.
In a clip posted Monday, the talk show gifted David Smith and his wife tickets to see the D-backs play during the World Series at Chase Field.
"Well, well our friends at Major League Baseball are sending you to Game 4 of the World Series tomorrow in Phoenix," Hudson told Smith during Monday's show.
The Smiths yelled out in excitement as Hudson handed them the tickets to see the D-backs compete against the Texas Rangers in the team's first World Series appearance since 2001.
Smith appeared on the national show to discuss how he was diagnosed with cancer in 2021 and his journey of being in remission for the last couple of years.
"I'm not in this alone," Smith told Hudson. "I'm just grateful all the way around."
Tickets for the World Series games at Chase Field sold out fairly quickly last week. Game 4 of the World Series will take place Tuesday, Oct. 31.
