It was quite a night at Chase Field Monday.
A really long night.
The Arizona Diamondbacks began their first series against the Los Angeles Dodgers of 2018, and it started off with a bang.
After a 15-inning marathon, the D-backs beat the Dodgers 8-7.
And at 5 hours and 45 minutes, the game became the longest game ever played in Chase Field history.
The heroics began in the bottom of the ninth inning as Chris Owings hit a game-tying three-run home run off closer Kenley Jansen.
An RBI single from Chase Utley in the 15th put Los Angeles up 7-6, but a double from Nick Ahmed tied it up in the bottom of the inning. Then Jeff Mathis won the game with a single.
Definitely a roller coaster of emotions for Arizona. Hopefully the winning ways continue for the rest of the series.
Arizona improves to 3-1 on the season and the series against L.A. continues Tuesday and Wednesday.
