How the Diamondbacks made history in Game 1 of the World Series

The Diamondbacks are just one game into the World Series against the Rangers but are already making history. Here's how.

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Arizona Diamondbacks are already making history just one game into the World Series against the Texas Rangers.

The Diamondbacks made a name for themselves on the basepaths in the regular season with 166 stolen bases in 162 games. Now, they are making postseason history.

In Game 1 of the World Series, the Diamondbacks went down in the record books for their fourth game this postseason with four or more stolen bases, which is the most ever for an MLB team.

Game 1 was also the third-straight game that the D-backs have swiped four or more bases, which had never been done before.

That was not the only record set by the D-backs in Game 1. Ketel Marte also tied the record for the longest hit streak in postseason history at 17 games. Manny Ramirez, Derek Jeter and Hank Bauer also had postseason hit streaks of 17 games in their careers.

Marte, who already has the longest hit streak to start a playoff career, will have a chance to break the overall playoff hit streak record in Game 2 on Saturday.
