ARLINGTON, Texas — During the first two games of the World Series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, did you notice a patch that says 'Avnet' with an 'A' logo above it?
That is the D-backs jersey sponsor patch and is new to their uniforms this year.
The D-backs announced the multi-year partnership with Avnet, a global technology distribution company that is headquartered in Arizona, in February.
Arizona has different versions of the jersey patch that match each of their uniforms. For hitters, the location of the patch depends on if they are a righty or lefty. For right-handed hitters, the patch will be on their left arm as that arm is more visible when they are hitting. For left-handed hitters the patch will be on their right arms.
Right-handed pitchers have the patch on their left arms and vice versa for left-handed pitchers.
This is part of a program announced by Major League Baseball in April 2022. The D-backs were the third team to add a sponsor patch to their jerseys. The Texas Rangers do not have a jersey sponsor.
