PHOENIX — Game Four of the National League Championship Series is almost here and another sell-out crowd is expected at Chase Field in downtown Phoenix!
This would be the third straight sellout for the Arizona Diamondbacks as they continue to chase their first World Series appearance since 2001, and the players are loving the support from the Arizona fans.
"The energy has been awesome," Zac Gallen said before Game 4 on Friday. "And my feeling when I had said it in the off-season, like, Phoenix, they'll show up when you are winning and playing good baseball. The energy is here, and I think just as much fun as it is for us, I feel like it's fun for them."
The fans were treated to a show Thursday night in Game 3 as the D-backs beat Philadelphia on a walk-off single from Ketel Marte.
Seeing the crowd's reaction was amazing for D-backs relief pitcher Ryan Thompson.
"Our fans showed out last night," Thompson said on Friday. "It was awesome to have that support. You see it in Philadelphia. You can tell that those guys, their intent is to try to get the crowd in it to kind of feel them. I think that's a good mindset to have because the fans, they matter."
Gallen even admitted having the hometown support helped push the D-backs to the Game 3 win.
"Home field advantage is definitely a thing for sure," Gallen said. "You see it with those guys across the way. They definitely play well at home for sure, and I think we're kind of coming into our own here too. I was really proud of the fans for showing up at 2 o'clock on a Thursday. I know it's not an easy task, but yeah, I think it helped us for sure."
