Scottsdale Christian wins 2A high school football state championship

The Eagles soared to the top in 2A, claiming the school's third state championship! Here's a look at their path to the title

PHOENIX — The fourth state championship in 2023 has been won as Friday Night Fever's 34th season begins championship week.

We had already seen Campo Verde win the 5A girls flag football state championship, Mountain View win the 6A girls flag football state championship and Hayden win the 1A tackle football state championship.

And now, Scottsdale Christian gets to add their name to the list of 2023 state champions after claiming the 2A state title as the #3 Eagles beat the #1 Pima Roughriders 41-24 on Saturday at Mountain Pointe High School in Phoenix.

This was a rematch of a Week 3 game, which Pima won 23-20 on September 1.

Scottsdale Christian jumped out early in the state championship game, taking a 34-8 lead to halftime, and then held serve in the second half to win the title.

This is the Eagles' third state championship in school history, but the first in 11-man football. SCA had won titles in 1983 (C) and 1989 (1A), which were both in 8-man football divisions.

This is Scottsdale Christian's second time beating Pima for a state championship. In 1983, Scottsdale Christian beat Pima, 19-0 for the C title.
