How a 'Sweet Play' will earn one Arizona high school football player a scholarship

Each week on Friday Night Fever, three plays will be named the Sweet Plays of the Week. At the end of year, one player will win a scholarship!

PHOENIX — It's time to kick off the 35th season of Arizona's No. 1 and longest-running high school football show, Friday Night Fever

And with the beginning of a new season comes a new segment on the show and not only are you, the fans, a part of it, the segment will give one high school football player a big award at the end of the season! 

Introducing Sweet Plays presented by Sweet James Accident Attorneys 

You may be familiar with a segment on FNF called 'Hot Shots' where we showed you the best three plays of the night, then had you go online to 12News.com and vote for your favorite. 

This segment has a new name this year and new stakes. It is now known as 'Sweet Plays.' 

Each week, the 12Sports crew will show you the top three 'Sweet Plays' of the week on Friday Night Fever. 

As before, you'll head online and vote for your favorite with the winner being named the Sweet Play of the Week. 

At the end of the year, all of the weekly winners will be up for the Sweet Play of the Year, with the top play taking home a $5,000 scholarship courtesy of Sweet James Accident Attorneys.  

So be a believer and catch the Fever every Friday night at 11:35 to see what plays are nominated and then head on to 12News.com to vote for your favorite!  

Arizona sports 

The city of Phoenix is home to four major professional sports league teams; The NFL's Arizona Cardinals, NBA's Phoenix Suns, WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury and MLB's Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Cardinals have made State Farm Stadium in Glendale their home turf and the Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix is home to both the Suns and the Mercury. The Indoor Football League’s Arizona Rattlers play at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale.

Phoenix also has a soccer team with the USL's Phoenix Rising FC, who play at Phoenix Rising FC Stadium in Phoenix.

The Valley hosts multiple major sporting events every year, including college football's Fiesta Bowl and Guaranteed Rate Bowl; the PGA Tour’s highest-attended event, the WM Phoenix Open; NASCAR events each spring and fall, including Championship Weekend in November; and Cactus League Spring Training for 15 Major League Baseball franchises.
