A match made in golfer heaven: AZ made apparel company partners with local brewery

Two Arizona companies are peeling back the tab on pretension and inviting everyone in for a good time this week during the WM Phoenix Open.

PHOENIX — Local brewery Four Peaks and golf apparel company Bad Birdie have teamed up for the Bad Birdie Juicy Golden Ale and a clothing collection to accompany it.

The two ‘made in Arizona’ companies share the same motto of being fun, approachable, and inclusive with golf and also beer drinking.

“We’re both Arizona companies who are passionate about the state, passionate about golf specifically,” said Bad Birdie Founder and CEO Jason Richardson. “Our whole purpose is to make golf fun for everyone who wants to play,” Richardson added.

Bad Birdie, headquartered in Scottsdale, is known as the disruptive golf apparel brand with their signature fun and bright patterns. They say they’re inspiring the next generation of golfers and just announced their first ever sponsorships on the PGA Tour including Si Woo Kim.

Their founder and CEO is rooted in Arizona. After starting the company in Los Angeles, he said he decided to move their headquarters back to his home a few years ago.

“(We) wanted to come back to the home roots and Scottsdale is the best place to play golf. So we moved our headquarters here and it’s been great ever since,” said Richardson.

The beer partnership came about when Four Peaks asked Bad Birdie if they’d like to work together on a project highlighting their love of Arizona and golf.

“That’s what makes this beer so special it kind of encapsulates the soul of Arizona golf,” said Four Peaks Marketing Director Trevor Needle.

Four Peaks knows a thing or two about what Arizonans like to drink.

The company has been brewing beer in Tempe for 27 years, but things may look at tad different this year for Four Peaks. This new beer can with the Bad Birdie collaboration is giving us one of our first glances at the company’s new and improved look.

“We're relaunching and rebranding all the Four Peaks. We're talking Kilt Lifter, Wild Wheat, all our big brands are completely rebranding because we're trying to get into that new age, so we are going to try and be here 30 years from now as well,” said Needle.

The oldest Arizona craft brewery plus one of the most innovative golf brands sure appear to be ‘acing’ the recipe for a good time, especially while the People’s Open is in town.

“With spring training, WM, this is my favorite time of year, what better time to kick back, go golf, hang out with friends, and drink a delicious beer,” said Needle.

You can check out what Bad Birdie has to offer at their store location in Kierland in Scottsdale.

You can find Four Peaks beers at stores across the state and by visiting their 8th Street Brewery in Tempe.
