When a leap year isn't a leap year

Did you know that there actually isn't a leap year every four years?

Today is Feb. 29, and that means 2016 is a leap year. The leap day is an extra day added to the shortest month of the year, February.

But did you know that there actually isn't a leap year every four years?

According to timeanddate.com, there are certain criteria a year must meet before it is identified as a leap year. In the Gregorian calendar, a year is identified as a leap year if the year can be evenly divided by four.

Also, if the year can be evenly divided by 100, it is NOT a leap year, unless the year is also evenly divisible by 400.

This means that 2000 and 2400 are leap years, but the years 1800, 1900, 2100, 2200, 2300 and 2500 are not considered leap years.
