It was a dream turned to gold for one singer on America's Got Talent.
As she stood with her shoes off, an interpreter nearby, in front of the AGT judges, 29-year-old Mandy Harvey said she had been singing since she was four but stopped after a disorder took her hearing.
"After I lost my hearing, I gave up," she said.
She lost her hearing when she was 18 years old, but says she figured out a way to sing again.
“I left music after I lost my hearing, and figured out how to get back into singing with muscle memory, using visual tuners and trusting my pitch,” she said on Tuesday night's show.
The talented singer performed an original song, "Try," saying she wrote it because "I want to do more with my life than just give up.”
Mandy received a standing ovation mid-performance from a teary-eyed audience and inspired judges.
"I don't think you're going to need a translator for this," Simon said as he slapped the show's "Golden Buzzer."
An emotional Mandy was showered in gold confetti and later embraced by Simon who said “I’ve done this a long time. That was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen and heard.
The performance has over 55 million views online and was the No. 1 trending video On YouTube the following day.
Mandy took to Facebook with an inspiring message of thanks.
"I am so grateful for my family and friends who never gave up on me when I gave up on myself," she wrote. "I hope you can look in your own life and help to push and encourage those around you!"
