Christmas in Naples, Italy can truly be the embodiment of the term "picture perfect."

My nonna (grandmother) is pretty serious about having a presepe or presepio (Nativity scene) during Christmastime in her home.

She's not alone. Many Italian families have an elaborate presepi beginning Dec. 8 up until Jan. 6 and baby Jesus is usually never placed in the crib until Christmas Eve.

If you didn't know, Naples and Sicily are well known for their presepi (Nativity scenes), according to several sources. I lived in Sicily for quite some time; you need visit if you haven't. It's a beautiful thing to have memories and keep family traditions going.

If you do decide to vacation to Naples during Christmastime, take a stroll down Via San Gregorio Armeno. "Christmas Alley," as it's known, is lined with craftsmen working on figurines for the city's famous Nativity scenes.

There are hundreds of elaborate and handmade Nativity scenes to be seen throughout the city; it's a spectacular scene.

Below are some presepi pictures from Naples gathered via social media -- enjoy!
