PHOENIX - The Valley has been overrun with moths of all sizes in recent days, leaving many viewers to ask us about this insect invasion.
The moths have appeared all over the Phoenix area, including at Thursday night's Diamondbacks game where players were swatting away little white moths all night.
Viewers are reporting other moths covering their doors and even their cars.
So we went to the experts at the University of Arizona's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences to find out what's going on.
Dr. Katy Purdic said it's probably a combination of the monsoon months and the moth's life cycle lining up in just the right way.
"I think right now you're experiencing the end of the monsoon and so these animals have been happily chewing away on their favorite plants," Purdic said.
While the numbers of moths are a little unusual, Purdic says they won't last.
Moths typically live only a few weeks.
