COCHISE COUNTY, Ariz. — A South Arizona woman has been arrested on multiple felony animal cruelty charges after her bumper pull trailer was found parked in a roadway earlier this month with almost a dozen dogs inside, according to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities with the sheriff's office said Anna Fuller, 27, was arrested on June 21 for the incident that happened on June 10 in Hereford on Hargis Ranch Road near Dakota Road.
The sheriff's office received a call about the trailer being in the roadway with no one at or near it and deputies began to search for the owner.
"While on scene, the deputies discovered multiple dogs inside the bumper pull trailer without any air circulation or water available," the sheriff's office said.
In total, ten dogs, including a mom and her seven 3-week-old puppies, were found inside the trailer.
"The conditions inside of the travel trailer were excessive with heat and clutter not allowing for the animals to survive for much longer," the sheriff's office said.
Fuller was identified as a possible owner of the vehicle. That was later confirmed by a man who came to the scene and claimed ownership of one of the dogs in the trailer.
The man told deputies that one of the dogs was his and he was allowed to take "temporary custody" of the dog.
Fuller was confirmed to be the owner of the other nine dogs. They were taken to the Douglas shelter to be cared for while the case is investigated.
Fuller is facing 40 felony counts of animal cruelty. She is being held on a $10,000 bond.
The case remains under investigation.
