Sexual assault reported near ASU's downtown Phoenix campus

The initial report to Phoenix police was that the victim was hit on the head and dragged into an unknown stairwell where the sexual assault happened, ASU police say.

PHOENIX — Arizona State University police put out a crime alert after a sexual assault was reported near the school’s downtown Phoenix campus earlier this week.

According to the alert, the assault happened Monday around 6:30 p.m. at an unspecified campus location. The suspect, who is reportedly unknown to the victim, is described as a black man between 30 and 40 years old with a normal build.

He was wearing a hat, a light blue sweatshirt, a purple T-shirt and blue jeans at the time of the assault, according to police.
